Darby House Design was born from a simple yet powerful question: "Why are high-quality needlepoint backgammon boards so complicated to finish and take so long to complete?" With Darby’s passion for backgammon and needlepoint along with her husband’s experience in manufacturing, the answer became a mission—to simplify and elevate the finishing process for needlepoint and backgammon enthusiasts.

  

A Better Way to Finish 

 

Traditionally, finishing a needlepoint backgammon board involved long wait times, limited options, and a cumbersome multi-step process that built the board around a stitched canvas. After stitching a canvas, one had to get a the canvas finished, get the board made, source dice cups, checkers, dice, and a doubling cube—which often would be mismatched with the original design intent. The total cost is often steep and a mystery until completed. 

 

We saw an opportunity to change that. 

 

In short, Darby House Design offers a Self-Finishing Backgammon Board that allows stitchers to plan their design, colors, threads and accessories before stitching begins and have a board in hand for when you are done stitching. The result is a cohesive, personalized work of art that’s ready to play and display.
